A content calendar is a simple schedule for what you are going to publish, when, and where. It can be a spreadsheet or a proper tool. The format matters less than actually having one.
What a good calendar tracks
- The topic and target keyword for each piece.
- The channel: blog, email, social, and so on.
- The publish date and who owns it.
- Status, from idea to draft to published.
The honest reason most content efforts stall is not talent, it is consistency. A calendar turns "we should post more" into a plan you can actually follow. A content calendar covers the "when," while a content roadmap covers the bigger "where are we headed."
